Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

People who help us

This week in Cherry Class we have been learning about people who help us. We have had some parent visitors in to tell us about the jobs they do that help people.

We have been enjoying playing in our fire station role play and with our fire service small world. We have also been writing sentences about the jobs that people do that help us and others. We have labelled uniforms including post delivery people, fire fighters and police.

In Maths this week we have been learning all about subtraction. The children have enjoyed solving taking away problems using fruit, concrete resources and people on a bus. I wonder if you could solve any taking away problems at home. For example:

First I had 5 cars, then I took 3 away. How many do I have left over?

In phonics we have been learning phase 4 blends and practising the sounds which we already know. We have been listening carefully to the 'r' and 'w' in words like 'frog' and 'swim'. We also have learnt the 4 new tricky words 'some, come, love and do'. I wonder if your child can spot these in their books?

We look forward to the children welcoming in their grown-ups on Wednesday next week to experience some time in Early years.

We were very excited to have caterpillars arrive! We can't wait to watch them grow and look forward to finding out what they might grow into.
