Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
This week in Oak Class...
Oak Class did a great job of singing their 'Thank You' song in the Harvest Festival on Wednesday. It was good to see so many parents there. Thank you to all those of you who came to help us walk down to St. Wilfrid’s and back.
We have been out and about in the school grounds this week too. In Science the children were looking at and naming all the different plants we could find and trying to remember the names of all the different trees. Then out again in Art thinking about the textures of the different things we found. Maybe whilst you are out and about this week you could have a look at some of the autumn treasures that the wind has blown our way and see if your child can name the tree they have come from or describe how they feel.
Describing things using really interesting adjectives has been our focus in English this week as well and the children have had some great ideas, not only describing characters from the Gruffalo story but describing characters and models that they have created or invented themselves.
The children were also introduced to Gerald the Giraffe in the story 'Giraffes Can’t Dance' and learnt that they can do anything as long as they keep trying and don’t give up. A message that I hope we can reinforce both at school and at home.
In Mathematics it has been all about counting in 2s. Have a try counting in twos together at home . . .
2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate? . . . Oak Class!!
