Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Getting Ready . . .
The season of Advent is upon us and in Oak Class preparations have already begun for Christmas treats including our Nativity Worship next Thursday. We look forward to showing you our version of the Christmas Story.
In English this week we have continued to be inspired by the Stickman and his adventures. The children have been good at remembering the order of events and considerate of how Stickman might have felt at each stage of his journey back to his family. They have also made some great stick characters of their own ready for acting out their own adventures.
The children have worked hard this week to get to grips with recognising and using all the different coins and notes that we use in our country. We will continue to work with money next week in class through a range of activities including reasoning and problem solving but if you are able to look at real money at home with your children that would be really helpful. The paper and plastic versions are useful but not quite the same as the real thing. If they have the opportunity to use money in real life to pay for things, and experience getting change, it all helps.
The Year 1 team are all busy planning and getting ready for an exciting Spring term to come. We are looking forward to introducing new topics and building on the children's existing learning and interests. Thank you to those of you who have already returned your contributions to our Zoolab day. It sounds like it will be a great experience for the children to have the chance to be able to meet the different creatures.
