Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

Getting ready . . .

The children have been preparing their Class Worship this week and welcome you all to come and join us on Tuesday morning to share in this special worship. Hopefully you received the invitation your child made for you. Your child may have also brought home their line to practise (on bright yellow paper), thank you for your support getting them ready. Some children are actors or are reading out their work instead so don't worry if your child doesn't have a line; they will still have an important role to play.

The other thing we have been getting ready for is our new topic of animals from around the world and the children have helped Mrs Merrick make a safari jeep for our African role-play. They have already started finding out more about different animals and sharing what they already know through drama and being reporters. In Geography we are learning what the different continents are called and where they are and we will go on to find out about the different animals that live on particular continents.

Thank you to all those of you who have enabled your child to create their animal models. They are very impressive! The children are taking it in turns to show them in class but it does take a while for everyone to do this so please bear with us. They will all get the chance to talk to us about what they made and how they made it. We can see that a lot of thought and effort has gone into the making of them.

In Mathematics this week we have been learning about multiplication and using our skills of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to help solve problems and explain things. It is certainly worth practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s at home as it will help support the children with their upcoming multiplication and division activities.

The class were introduced to their new Growth Mindset character whom we will be focussing on this half term. 'Concentrating Colin' helps children to think of the skills they need to help them concentrate and do their best.

Just a couple of reminders: All children should have their PE kits back in school again by now and please remember they should only have water in their water bottles. Thank you.
