Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!
This week saw the introduction of our new Learning theme - The Seaside.
The children have been sharing their experiences of going to the seaside through art, role-play and talking and writing. They have helped develop our role-play area into our own mini beach and ice cream shop.
In English we have introduced two new stories; "the Lighthouse Keepers lunch" and "Lucy and Tom at the Seaside". The children have come up with some really thoughtful predictions as to what they think will happen in these stories. We look forward to finding out next week.
Mathematics this week has been an opportunity for the children to consolidate their addition and subtraction skills and apply them to different reasoning and problem solving activities. You could try making up some word problems at home involving addition and subtraction of numbers to 20 and see if they can work out how to solve them. For example: "Jon has 18 toy cars. He decides to give 3 to his friend Joe and 4 to his little brother. How many cars will Jon have left?".
On Friday we had our first football coaching session and these will continue until the end of term every Friday afternoon. We are also fortunate enough to continue with our Gymnastics coach every Monday afternoon. Please could you ensure your child is ready for these sessions with a full PE kit of shorts, t-shirt, trainers and socks (if they are wearing tights). Please also remember that if your child has their ears pierced you should be taping over their earrings or including a roll of tape in their PE kit so that it can be done in school. As we hope to be outside for football, suncream (applied at home), and a sun hat or cap would also be useful. Please do name everything! Thank you.
