Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

World Book Day

This week has been very exciting in class because on Thursday we celebrated World Book Day and all came to school dressed as some of our favourite book characters. Our classroom looked like the library had come to life!
We had princesses, animals, Willy Wonkas and even an oompah loompa!

We spent the morning discussing our outfits, talking about our favourite books and drawing illustrations. We then spent some time exploring the library and revisiting the rules and expectations for using the library. Each class then had a specific author to look at. We had Nick Butterworth, who is the author of Q-Pootle 5 but we also discovered more of his books, such as Percy the Park Keeper and Albert Le Blanc. We learnt some facts about him too, such as that he is 78 years old!

In the afternoon, we spent time creating plans for our very own stories. Some of us wrote about the characters we came dressed as, some of us rewrote familiar stories and some of us used our imaginations to create new stories. We then wrote them up into little books which we have been sharing with the rest of the class.
