Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

December 2025

Almost there... "counting down to Christmas..."

What a busy half-term we have had!

We have had some fun fundraising for Children In Need (as you can see in our blog main picture).  We challenged ourselves to run 25 lengths of the school hall.  Some other fundraising events that we have had were our Storytelling and Stargazing evening, and our fantastic Christmas Fair!  Well done, and thank you, to everyone who donated prizes or bottles, or took part in setting up or even came to the fair and spent some pennies... we appreciate every single person that has contributed in some way.

In terms of our learning, we have been reading and writing our own version of The Tin Forest by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson.

In our maths, we have spent the last couple of weeks remembering how to count in 5's and 10's and how we can make and count groups of 5's or 10's using objects and/or coins.

Here is a link to a website that can provide you with some free games to practise, so your children will be able to show off what they have learnt.

In science, we have been learning about different materials, where they come from and what the properties of them are.  We have also been thinking about how they can be useful in different ways.  The last two weeks have been spent trying to find a way to pop a bag with just baking soda and vinegar!  We finally managed it today!

Upcoming events...

Wednesday 17th December 2025 - KS1 Christmas Worship at St Wilfrid's Church (starting at 2pm).  We hope you can join us!  Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to walk down with us - your support is always appreciated!

Friday 19th December 2025 - Last day of term - as if the children will let you forget that!

Merry Christmas from everyone in Apple Class!
