Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

Spring Term - The First Half!

Here in Apple Class...

What an amazing start we have had to this term!  The topic on the moon landing has seen the children really engrossed in what they have been learning.  We have created fact sheets about the moon landing, when it happened and who took part in it, in our writing lessons, showing off our skills of using question marks, exclamation marks, statements, commands and commas.  In history, we have been learning all about Neil Armstrong and his life.  In our computing lessons, we have been using laptops to make pictures of rockets and in our art lessons, we have started to make a textured moon surface which we will be adding to after the half-term break.

In RE, we completed our learning about the Christmas Story and started thinking about "What is the good news that Jesus brings us?"  We have been reading parables about kindness (The Good Samaritan), and thankfulness (The 10 Lepers) and sacrifice (The Pearl of Great Price) and using these stories to understand how much God cares for us all.

In mathematics, we have been thinking about multiplication (counting in 2s, 5s 10s and 3s) and also division (sharing and grouping).  The link below will take you to a useful website that can be used for mathematics practise.  it is free to use!

In science, we have been learning about different animals and the habitats that they live in.

In PE, we created a dance to the Mars Theme by Gustav Holst.

So what's next??  After half-term, (in a very short half-term of 5 weeks) we will continue our learning about space with some fiction writing, we will be thinking about doubles and halves in mathematics, we have our class worship to prepare for and our art gallery just before Easter.  We will also be learning more about animals and what they eat in science, and learning about the meaning of Easter in RE... and plenty more!
