Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
End of the Year

Wow, what a busy end of the school year we have had!
We started the half term with a pirate themed day where the children dressed up as pirates or under the sea creatures. The children had a wonderful immersive experience of a pirate performance which they absolutely loved!
We also went on a trip to Bognor Beach and we were joined by Sussex Underwater's Paul Boniface who helped the children to explore the creatures living in our local beach!
We had sports day, transition day in year one and our end of year party!
Our learning has been linked to pirates, the beach and under water. Children have re told stories such as 'rainbow fish' and have made pirates wanted posters from 'the night pirates'. They have written recounts of their trip to the beach.
In Maths the children have explored addition and subtraction as well as learning about fractions and money.
This half term in phonics the children have been continuing to revise the sounds previously taught and we have been very impressed with the progress they have made with phase 4 blends and reading sentences.
It has been a wonderful year and we have loved getting to know cherry class and all of their families. We wish you all a restful and fun summer holidays and look forward to welcoming the children back into Year one in September.
