Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Sussex Underwater
This week, Nyewood had an exciting and inspiring visit from Sussex Underwater! We were lucky to spend the day learning all about the amazing sea life that lives just off our coast and the incredible kelp forests that provide a home for so many creatures.
We discovered that kelp forests are very important because they help keep the ocean healthy, provide shelter for fish and other sea creatures, and even help to clean the air we breathe! Our visitors showed us pictures and videos of local marine life, including crabs, seahorses, rays, sharks seals and different kinds of fish. We also learned why it's so important to take care of our oceans by keeping them clean and protecting the animals that live there.
After learning all about our local sea life, we had the chance to get creative! We used different materials to make our very own sea creatures, which we proudly displayed around the school. Some of us made sparkly jellyfish, while others crafted colourful fish and octopuses. It was so much fun using our imagination and thinking about life under the sea!
The rest of the day was spent crafting, drawing, and talking about everything we had learned.
It was a fantastic day, and we all left feeling inspired to do our part in protecting the ocean. Thank you, Sussex Underwater, for teaching us so much about our local marine life. We can't wait to learn even more about the wonderful world beneath the waves!
