Nyewood CE Infant School

Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

A super start to the new year!

What a great start to the new year and half-term it has been. The children have amazed me with their learning over the last few weeks!

In PE, the children have created a space dance where they have learnt to perform a range of movements with control, which include changes in levels/height, speed and direction.

In RE, we have been learning about the good news that Jesus brings and learning to tell stories from the Bible, and begin to link them with the concept of good news.

In Maths, we have continued our learning on recognising numbers, knowing what numbers mean and where they come. We have also learnt about addition and subtraction.

In Science, we have learnt about animals. We have looked at identifying and naming a variety of common animals, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

In Writing, we have learnt how to write and answer questions about the moon landing.

Hawthorn really enjoyed the visit from author John Bond. They learnt how to draw the dog from his book 'How long is that dog?' and were thrilled to receive a signed copy of his book.

I hope that you all have a lovely half-term!
