Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Our amazing book week!
What a fantastic time we had celebrating Book Week in Year 1! We had so many exciting activities that helped us enjoy books even more. Here’s a look at all the fun we had!
On World Book Day, we came to school dressed as our favorite book characters! We saw princesses, superheroes, animals, and even some funny book characters. Everyone looked amazing, and it was so much fun guessing who was who!
We took our love for books outside and had stories read to us in the fresh air. It was so special to sit under the sky, listen to wonderful tales, and let our imaginations run wild.
Did you know that books can help us with maths too? We used the book One Is a Snail, Ten Is a Crab to learn all about numbers in a fun and creative way. We counted feet and made up our own number problems!
A real author came to visit us! His name was Rich Sherman and he wrote the book The Right Way Up. We got to listen to his story, ask questions, and even got some great tips for writing our own books. It was so exciting.
We all voted for our favourite books in the library. It was fun to see which books were the most popular. We voted Heavy Metal Badger as our favourite.
We got creative and made paper plate book characters! There were some fantastic designs—some were funny, some were colourful, and all of them looked amazing.
Reading is even more fun when we share books with our friends. We took turns reading together, talking about our favourite stories, and discovering new books we hadn’t read before.
We read a book by Rachel Bright, The Koala Who Could, and wrote our own book reviews. We thought about what we loved about the story, our favourite parts, and how the pictures made us feel.
A big well done to all the children who have been doing lots of reading at home! We celebrated their hard work and love for books. Keep it up, everyone!
We had the best time during Book Week, and we can’t wait for more reading fun next year! 📖💛 What was your favorite part of the week?
