Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Singing, sharing and summarising
We have had a very productive third week in Year 2!
In English this week we have been learning all about adjectives and how to use them in a sentence to make it more exciting and interesting. We came up with some super words, see if we can share them with you!
In guided reading we have been summarising the story of 'Where the Wild Things Are', we did this by creating a comic strip. Then on Thursday we shared our comic strips with Apple Class. We really enjoyed sharing our work and it helped us to learn the story even more!
On Wednesday, we went to St. Wilfrid's church to celebrate Harvest. Each of us handed over an item of food to Father Ray to donate to the food bank so we can help those in need. Also at Harvest we did a great job of using our big voices to sing our growing harvest song. We did a great job and really enjoyed performing in front of everyone.
Mathematics has been a challenge this week but we always try our best and have learnt lots! We have been learning about the commutative law, which is understanding the order of the numbers in a number sentence. We have been thinking carefully about the biggest number always going first in subtraction but in addition it comes after the equals. We also noticed that it doesn't matter which way round we add two numbers because they always end with the right answer.
We have had another super week and look forward to sharing next week with you!
