Today's home learning...

READING

In reading this week we will be focussing on the super six skill of 'Questioning'. Using the book you read yesterday, have a go at answering these questions:

Where was your text set?

How many different settings were there in your text?

Can you think of another book with a similar setting?

If your text was set in a desert, would the story still be the same?

WRITING

At the moment in writing we will be focussing on writing letters. One of the skills we are practising to write our letters is to recognise formal and informal language choices. Can you decide if these sentences are formal or informal?

I am writing to inform you about something I have seen recently.

I was great to see you the other day!

I’ll see you next week when you pop round.

I am sorry to say that I am unable to make the next appointment.

Now write some of your own. Can your adult guess if it’s informal or formal?

MATHEMATICS

In mathematics today, we would like you to play the game below to practise recognising odd and even numbers. Practise counting in twos, remember if it is in the twos pattern, it is an even number. The activities below are at three levels, pick the level that you think is best for you.

Blue- Can you make number cards up to 20 and play a game with your grown up at home. Who can get the most cards by saying if they are odd or even?

Yellow-  Look for numbers to 100 around your house, (try the microwave and washing machine) can you say if they are odd or even?

Red- Look for numbers beyond 100 around your house, (try the microwave and washing machine) can you say if they are odd or even? What patterns do you notice?

TOPIC

Today’s topic lesson is about design technology.
Look back at the healthy snack you designed, can you use any ingredients you can find at home to create a healthy snack similar.
