Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Autumn is in the Air!
With the dew on the grass and being able to see our breath on the air each morning, it is safe to say that autumn is here! This week, we have been thinking about the seasonal changes that happen in autumn and creating our own autumn woodland in Holly Class.
"In autumn the leafs change colour.... They go brown and red and yellow." explained Sophie.
"These are conkers. They come from trees and fall down." Tommy said.
We have been using our autumn objects onto help us with our maths learning. This week we have been thinking about counting objects accurately and matching them to numerals. We have also been learning to subitise. That means knowing how many objects there are without having to count them. We have been using dominoes and dice to help with this.
"That is the number 5" said Zachary pointing to the 5 dots on the domino.
T - How do you know?
"I just look at it and know." he replied.
In literacy, we have been learning the skill of alliteration. This is when we think of words that begin with the same sound e.g. sand, sock, sun, or ship, shoe, shape. At home you could continue this by playing eye spy but rather than using the letter names, use the letter sounds e.g. "I spy with my little eye something beginning with ssss". Have fun!
