Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God

Monday 20th April

Hello, we hope you all enjoyed your Easter Holidays. please find today's learning tasks below.

READING

This week in our reading learning we are going to be looking at the Super Six Skill of Predicting. We are going to share a book with you tomorrow but first, can you predict what the book will be about from the title?

The title of the book we are going to look at is ‘The Dragon Machine’.

You can write your prediction down or talk about it with someone in your family!

WRITING

The purpose of our Writing for the next few weeks is to learn some new skills to re-write a familiar story with our own twist to it!

Today we would like you to choose a story that you have access to for the next few weeks and read this so you really know it! Perhaps you would like to act it out with your family or create some puppets to retell this story.

MATHEMATICS

In mathematics this week we will be learning about time. Have a look at an analogue clock in your house. Which hand is the minute hand? Which is the hour hand? What jobs do they have?

Using the link above, grown-ups please set the clock to different o’clock and half past times (like 3 o’clock and half past 9). What time does it show? What do you do at that time normally? Explore different times and reading these. How do you know it’s o’clock or half past? Where does the minute hand need to be?

TOPIC

In topic today we are doing Science! This term we are learning about animals. Your job today is to create your own zoo. Then have a go at answering the questions below!

  • What animals have you included?
  • Which of these animals have sharp teeth?
  • Which ones do you think are biggest in real life?
  • What do they need to live? Do they need different things?
  • Which animals are the predators and how do you know?
  • Which animals are the prey?

We would love to see your zoos so (if you can) please share pictures of them either by emailing the office or by the Nyewood Facebook page.
