Smiling, Caring and Learning Together on a Journey with God
Happy Half Term
What a busy half term it has been for Sycamore Class! We hope you all enjoyed our worship this week, either virtually or in person. The children worked so hard to put this together and did a fantastic job during the performances.
This week we have been working hard finishing our space themed stories in line with the text QPootle5. We are now learning some new writing skills to help us write an advert for the moon which we will work on for the next 3 weeks after half term. Some of us are working on making sure we use our sounds when we write our words, some of us are working on ensuring we use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops consistently and some of us are learning about different sentence types; statements, commands, questions and exclamations. We will also be learning about writing in the past and present tense too!
In Mathematics we have been reminding ourselves of our number bonds this week so we can recall them really quickly. After half term we will be revisiting addition and subtraction. Here are some games you might want to play at home;
During history lessons we have been exploring Neil Armstrong and his journey to the moon! I wonder if you can recall the events that took place for this trip in order? What did he do first? Then what was next?
In Science we have been exploring materials. Last week we looked at how ice changes when it gets warmer. I wonder if you can find any other materials around your house that change. Do they twist? Stretch? Bend? Can you rip it or break it?
We are also focusing a lot on spellings in our class at the moment. Here are some games you might want to explore Words and Spelling, English Games for 5-7 Years - Topmarks
Finally, thank you to all the Sycamore families for your continued support over this term! We wish you all a restful half term.
